1、定子绕组匝间或相间短路或接地，使电流增大，调损增加而过热。若故障不严重，只需重新加包绝缘，严重的应更换绕组。

2、轴承损坏或磨损过大等，使定子和转子相碰擦，可检查轴承是否有松动，定子和转子是否装配不良。

3、如果电压超过直流电机额定电压10%以上，或低于直流电机额定电压5%以上时，直流电机在额定负载下容易发热，温升增高，应检查并调整电压。

4、笼型转子断条或绕线转子线圈接头松脱，引起维修网电流过大而发热。可对铜条转子作焊补或更换，对铸铝转子应更换转子。
